Bothell is famous for great housing options and offers a thriving riverfront community. The city is in King and Snohomish Counties and is a part of the Seattle Metropolitan area. The weather in Bothell comprises a temperate oceanic climate, meaning that it is pleasant throughout the year. Bothell offers various quality schools, recreational opportunities, retail stores, restaurants, and the Classic Remodeling NW, Inc. serves all residents in the Bothell area.
Initially inhabited by 200 Native Americans, current-day Bothell went through quite a lot of owners. In 1870, Columbus S. Greenleaf and George R. Wilson first filed land claims, followed by Geroge Brackett who bought it in 1876. In 1885, David Bothell, a settler from Pennsylvania bought the land from Brackett and sold his first building to Norwegians Gerhard Ericksen and his wife Dorothea. Ericksen became the first postmaster of the city and named it Bothell in 1888.
Bothell was incorporated in 1909, and over the last four decades, it has grown past its suburban origins. What was once a city of 8,000 now houses almost six times that population. It’s a diversified community containing people across different races, ethnicity, ability, place of birth, and income.
Although the summers are mild and comfortable, winters in Bothell can be extremely cold and cloudy. The city does experience significant seasonal variations throughout the year, because of its cloudy nature. Bothell also experiences a bit of snowfall which is highest during December.
The Hindu Temple & Cultural Center(HTCC) is one of the two chief landmarks in the city. Given Bothell’s diversity and ethnicity, the temple is visited by many for spiritual guidance and meditation.
The HTCC initiative began in the early 1980s to fulfill the community’s needs for a place of worship, and the celebration of festivals. Construction started in 1999, was completed in 2001, and the deities were instilled in 2003. The project received overwhelming support from the community.
The second landmark is the Bothell City Hall, an important component in the city’s ambitious downtown revitalization. Not only does it serve as a community gathering place, but the new and improved City Hall also anchors the municipal campus, including the Municipal Court Building and the Police Department.
There are various museums and art galleries located around Bothell, such as:
In addition to these buildings, Bothell hosts various annual events such as the City of Bothell Freedom Festival, Greater Bothell Arts & Craft Fair, La Fiesta Viva, Harvest Festival, and many more.
Bothell’s development started after World War II. Better highways and automobiles combined with the post-war boom increased the city’s population from about 1,000 in 1950 to over 40,000 in 2017. Initially, Bothell was mainly a Bedroom community for people working in Bellevue, Seattle, Bothell, and others. However, this changed when housing development introduced new employment opportunities. A regional employment center was created in Canyon Park with about 20,000 new jobs.
